NuMark Credit Union Sponsors Meals for 100+ Local Families

November 2020- NuMark is a proud supporter of the Northern Illinois Food Bank whose volunteers and staff are working relentlessly to help meet the high demand for food during the COVID-19 crisis. According to the Food Bank’s website, last year volunteers gave 140,000 hours of their time to distribute the equivalent of 80.3 million meals in our community. As the crisis has begun to boom, the Food Bank has stepped up to serve the increasing numbers. In Illinois alone, nearly 2 million people may face hunger this year, many for the first time— an increase of more than 638,000 people due to the pandemic.

NuMark Credit Union has answered the call as well. During this year, the credit union has donated over $9,100 and sponsored three mobile food trucks. The most recent mobile food truck was on November 10th at the Joliet VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic. Volunteers were able to serve 346 individuals and helped 105 families.

The mobile food truck in April served 143 individuals that benefitted 513 household members and in May, the credit union was able to helped 476 families, the highest number of families that Catholic Charities had served at one Mobile Food Pantry event.

The need is great and each donation matters. 96 percent of the Food Bank’sresources go towards programs to feed our hungry neighbors. If you would like to help, you can make a donation online at solvehungertoday.org or by using NuMark’s donation link on their website at numarkcu.org.
