Ascend Federal Credit Union has more than 240,000 members and more than $4.4 billion in assets.
Ascend Federal Credit Union announced today a $20,000 donation to the American Red Cross, split evenly between the Heart of Tennessee Chapter and the Nashville Area Chapter. These contributions supported the Heart of Tennessee Chapter's 13th annual Heroes Luncheon, which took place on March 13 at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), and the Nashville Area Chapter's Lifesaver Luncheon, which will be held on April 8 at the Curb Event Center at Belmont University. The Heroes Luncheon recognized and celebrated the selfless service of individuals in the community who embody the mission of the Red Cross. This year's Heart of Tennessee event honored Dr. Gloria Bonner, who dedicated 44 years to education, including 32 years at MTSU, and has volunteered extensively with local non-profits. In fiscal year 2024, the Heart of Tennessee Chapter assisted 528 people following a disaster, installed 344 free smoke alarms, enrolled 5,515 people in first aid/CPR/AED training, and collected 14,833 units of lifesaving blood. "Ascend is committed to supporting the vital work of the American Red Cross," said Ascend President and CEO Matt Jernigan. "The Heroes and Lifesaver Luncheons are powerful reminders of the everyday heroes among us. We are proud to support both the Heart of Tennessee and Nashville Area chapters' events, and we commend the honorees who exemplify the spirit of service and compassion.”
