San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), one of Southern California’s largest locally-owned financial institutions, has partnered with the San Diego County Library (SDCL) to host a book drive aimed at promoting literacy throughout San Diego County. Throughout October, SDCCU’s second annual Lift Up Literacy campaign will collect new and like-new books at all of San Diego County’s convenient SDCCU branch locations. Donations will be distributed by SDCL, adding to its valued community resources.
Community donations will support SDCL initiatives dedicated to increasing access to reading throughout the county. SDCL encourages a love of reading in every way across its 33 branches, five kiosks and Free Little Libraries, an honor-based book exchange program encased in welcoming mailbox-like structures. Free Little Libraries are placed in areas managing literacy challenges, including transportation, financial or technical barriers.
“The San Diego County Library’s efforts to increase literacy in our community align with our efforts to support financial literacy in the communities we serve to help achieve a healthy, safe and thriving community,”
“We are proud to partner with the San Diego County Library System again this year to help promote literacy throughout San Diego County,” said Teresa Campbell, SDCCU president and CEO.
Books will create additional avenues for SDCL to continue strengthening literacy, adding to existing programs and its physical and virtual hub of resources that allow citizens of all ages to experience education, entertainment and culture. For additional details, visit sdccu.com/bookdrive.
