Ascend Federal Credit Union announced today it has donated $15,000 to Operation Stand Down Tennessee (OSDTN). As part of the donation, the credit union was a General Sponsor of the 14th Annual Heroes Breakfast in Nashville, held Oct. 24. The donation and sponsorship are a testament to the credit union’s ongoing dedication to the Middle Tennessee community, its veterans, military personnel, and their families. “At Ascend Federal Credit Union, we are committed to honoring and supporting those who have served our country,” said Ascend President and CEO Matt Jernigan. “The credit union was founded in 1951 on Arnold Air Force Base – and our beginnings are rooted in serving military personnel and their families. That commitment continues to guide our mission today as we strive to support and empower our military communities across Middle Tennessee.”

OSDTN is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive resources and support to military-connected individuals. Through programs focused on housing, employment, and other wrap-around services, OSDTN helps veterans reintegrate into civilian life, achieve stability, and connect with their communities. The Heroes Breakfast is a signature event that honors the service and sacrifice of veterans and military personnel.
The event was held at the Music City Center, in downtown Nashville. U.S. Army Ranger and former National Football League player, Alejandro Villanueva served as the keynote speaker. Villanueva, who served in the 75th Ranger Regiment as a Captain, is a Bronze Star recipient.
“We are honored to have Ascend return as a significant sponsor at the Nashville Heroes Breakfast,” said Penny Anderson, Operation Stand Down Tennessee Chief Development and External Affairs Officer. “Ascend’s commitment to Veterans and Operation Stand Down TN helps builder a stronger veteran community.”
Ascend began its partnership with OSDTN in 2022 and has contributed a total of $50,000.
