TACOMA, WA – Sound Credit Union (Sound) team members spent Indigenous Peoples’ Day together giving back to the community. The financial institution spent their annual Afternoon of Service assembling over 5,100 hygiene and winter kits for local non-profit organizations. The day began with Sound employees attending their All-Staff Meeting, followed by an engaging panel discussion with community leaders and concluded with the making of care kits.

The panel discussion included Joe Alonzo, CEO of Cocoon House, Ryan Scott, Chief Development Officer of Food Lifeline, Danny Burkett, CEO/Founder of Our Ark, and Allison Loft, Donor Engagement Officer, United Way of Pierce County. These leaders shared their organizations’ missions and provided awareness of how they are making a meaningful impact across the Puget Sound region.
“The panel discussion was incredibly inspiring,” said Jennifer Reed, VP of Public Relations at Sound Credit Union. “Sound team members gained a better understanding of the services these organizations are providing to the community. This discussion serves as a reminder that issues our communities are facing cannot be solved by one individual or one organization alone. It will truly take all of us working and standing together to help others through all waves of life.”
Following the panel discussion, over 400 Sound employees and community partners came together to make over 5,100 care kits that were distributed to Cocoon House, Food Lifeline, Our Ark and the United Way of Pierce County. This winter, the kits will be distributed to clients of each organization. This project reinforces Sound’s commitment to Washingtonians and organizations dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the community.
