Ascend Federal Credit Union has donated $10,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association’s Tennessee Chapter. As part of the donation, the credit union is a sponsor for two events in Middle Tennessee this year connected to the fundraising initiative “Walk to End Alzheimer's.”
“We’re proud to partner with the Alzheimer’s Association Tennessee Chapter to support several of their walks in the communities we serve,” said Ascend President and CEO Matt Jernigan. “These walks raise vital funds for research and spread awareness of the Association’s critical work. Supporting their mission aligns with our commitment to serving and improving the lives of our members and neighbors, and we invite everyone to join us at our upcoming Rutherford County Walk in November as we work together toward a cure.”
The first of two “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” events in Middle Tennessee sponsored by Ascend took place September 21 in Lynchburg, Tennessee. The second event will take place Saturday, November 2 in Murfreesboro at the Hayes Soccer Complex on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University. The money raised from the walks will be used to provide critical care and support resources to individuals and families affected by dementia. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide by the Alzheimer’s Association, “Walk to End Alzheimer's” is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research."We are honored to have Ascend as a sponsor for this year's Walk to End Alzheimer's in Rutherford County and Tullahoma along with leading a team in Nashville,” said Alzheimer's Association Tennessee Chapter Executive Director Dawn Bunn. “Their commitment to raising awareness of Alzheimer's and dementia in our community as well as raising funds for crucial research is just part of our shared mission to serve others. We are immensely grateful for their support and hope we can continue to work together to support the more than 129,000 Tennesseans living with Alzheimer's and their 369,000 care partners across the state.”In total, the credit union, employees, and members have contributed more than $20,000 to help in the fight against Alzheimer’s since 2012.For more information on November’s Rutherford County Walk, the Alzheimer’s Tennessee Chapter, and how to donate, visit this
